Biologist, Bishop, CA: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Geode Environmental (Geode), based in Bishop, CA, is seeking biologists with experience and USFWS/CDFW certifications for the following species:

  • Desert Tortoise (handler)
  • Yosemite Toad
  • Mojave Ground Squirrel
  • Swainson’s Hawk
  • Burrowing Owl

  1. Resume: Resumes must list dates and location of employment; employer and the client performing work for; species and agencies involved in project; special certifications from CDFW & USFWS, etc; and work performed. There is no page limit but a concise document is preferred.
  2. Cover Letter: One-page cover letter highlighting agency and field experience performing work similar to items in the “Job Duties” listed below.
  3. Reference Sheet & Proof of Education: A minimum of 3 work references to be contacted by Geode Environmental. Please include a paragraph inducing dates of employment and why you listed them as a contact. By submitting a resume, you are authorizing these references to be contacted. Also, transcripts and proof of education must be offered upon request, and will be reviewed prior to an offer of employment.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

i. Biological Assessment.

ii. Biological Surveys.

iii. Wetlands Assessments.

iv. Wetlands Study/Delineation.

v. Environmental Permit Applications.

vi. Resource Agency Permit related Coordination.

vii. Natural Environment Study (NES) Report.

viii. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permit (404/10).

ix. U.S. Forest Service PLACs.

x. Species in Mono County, Inyo County and Eastern Kern: Desert tortoise and Yosemite toad are a plus

xi. Department of Fish and Wildlife 1600 Agreement(s)/2080.1/2081 Permit(s).

xii. Department of Fish & Wildlife California Endangered Species Act (CESA) 2081 Incidental Take Permits.

xiii. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Section 7) Endangered Species Act (ESA) Informal and Formal Consultation.

xiv. General Section 7 of Endangered Species Act

xv. Regional Water Quality Control Board (401) Permit.

xvi. Biological Mitigation Measures.

xvii. Construction Monitoring

xviii. Wildlife corridor analysis

xix. GIS mapping (please list experience)

xx. Perform biological surveys for plant species and vegetation mapping.

xxi. Perform biological surveys for animal species including, but not limited to, birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, and general wildlife.

xxii. Pre-construction surveys.

xxiii. Work in relation to the exclusion of wildlife from structures.

xxiv. Construction monitoring for compliance with agency permits.

xxv. USFWS & CDFW certifications for particular species

xxvi. Please list any Caltrans, CDFW, USFWS, BLM, USFS or other agency experience. This will be weighted heavily.
